Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy provides a containing, professional, therapeutic relationship within which to explore and talk about your problems. Unconscious conflicts and motivations, often rooted in past events and situations can cause distress and internal conflict. These issues may need to be addressed to give insight into what's really wrong now and relieve emotional and mental difficulties you may be experiencing. This means taking your feelings seriously. Working such insights through in therapy can promote change in the present and lead to a more conflict-free experience of living, for yourself and the people you are involved with. When you begin psychoanalytic psychotherapy you start a growth process, which reduces emotional suffering, can prevent disastrous behaviour, improves resistance to illness, makes life more meaningful and can console the person who is desperately unhappy.

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy usually takes place two or three times a week and makes use of the analytic couch to facilitate more awareness of unconscious experience. The regularity of contact with your psychotherapist facilitates a safe and more contained professional relationship in which trust and reliability become key in enabling you to deal with uncomfortable emotional issues and experiences needing to be faced and worked through, so that a happier and freer experience of life becomes possible.
